Job Summary:

We’re looking for a dependable, flexible, and customer-focused Part-Time Break Coverage Associate to provide daily lunch and break coverage throughout Black Sheep Sporting Goods.

This position is scheduled from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM and is specifically designed to provide coverage for our main-store cashiers and employees working in our satellite showrooms during their scheduled lunches and breaks.

The right person is adaptable, comfortable moving between different areas of the store, and able to quickly step into different customer-service and register responsibilities. Because this position works across multiple departments and showrooms, strong communication, reliability, and the ability to work independently are essential.

• Provide scheduled lunch and break coverage for main-store cashiers.
• Provide lunch and break coverage for employees working in Black Sheep's satellite showrooms.
• Move between departments and showrooms throughout the shift based on the daily coverage schedule.
• Operate cash registers and process customer transactions accurately.
• Maintain excellent customer service while temporarily overseeing assigned departments or showrooms.
• Greet customers, answer general questions, and assist with basic product needs.
• Become familiar with the products, layouts, and basic operations of multiple Black Sheep departments and satellite stores.
• Communicate with employees before and after breaks to ensure a smooth transition and continued customer coverage.
• Maintain awareness of assigned areas and ensure customers are not left unattended.
• Assist with light merchandising, recovery, restocking, and showroom organization when not actively assisting customers.
• Communicate coverage issues, customer concerns, or operational needs to management.
• Follow company cash-handling, customer-service, and operational procedures.
• Step into additional departments or responsibilities as business needs shift.

• Part-time availability from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
• Dependable and able to consistently maintain the required schedule.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working independently and transitioning between multiple departments throughout a shift.
• Previous cashier or retail experience preferred.
• Comfortable operating a cash register and handling customer transactions.
• Friendly, approachable, and committed to providing excellent customer service.
• Able to quickly learn basic product knowledge across multiple departments and showrooms.
• Strong time-management skills and ability to follow a structured break-coverage schedule.
• Adaptable and willing to take on different responsibilities as needed.
• Able to remain on your feet and move throughout the store for the majority of the shift.
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
